I decided to upgrade my Timberjig Chainsaw Mill to the Big Mill Basic Chainsaw Mill. The Big Mill Basic Chainsaw Sawmill uses the basic timberjig kit plus a guide rail and guide rail supports. the chainsaw mill is very easy to use and takes a lot of the guesswork out of knowing where to cut. I found setup much faster than using a board with the timberjig. I used a Stihl 036 chainsaw. The 036 is lightweight with plenty of power but not enough power to mill lumber as quick as I’d like. A Stihl 066 or Husqvarna 395 are the ideas saws for chainsaw milling in my book.

Both saws have some porting work and muffler mods. The Stihl only has about one tank of gas through the rebuild. The wood is dry eucalyptus aka red gum, a very dense/hard wood.
