Lithium-Ion Battery powered chain saws are nothing new to Stihl, but they are working to better their product line as they work to bring on commercial contractors into this market. The MSA 200 is the larger brother to the MSA 160, but still takes the same 36v battery pack. This saw will handle up to a 14″ bar with a runtime of up to 35 minutes. The runtime will be dependent on what the chainsaw is cutting and the load on the saw. This Stihl chainsaw features the quick chain adjuster that allows the user to adjust the tension of the chain without the use of tools. This feature is very popular on the battery operated chain saw lines and allows for easy chain adjustment. As you would expect from Stihl, this unit is lightweight and compact with a brushless electric motor. There is very little ramp up tome to the motor and the chain speed is that of many smaller chain saws.
